Waiter app
Waiter app for tableside ordering
KalasOS gives waiters a tableside ordering app that runs on their phone or a tablet. They pick a table, add items, and each round goes straight to the kitchen display. The table's check builds as they go, ready for the cashier or the waiter to bill.

- Add rounds to a table's check; each round goes to the kitchen.
- Add off-menu custom items with a name, an optional price and a station.
- Take takeaway orders from the same screen.
Serving and billing
- Mark items served as they reach the table.
- Print a kitchen ticket when a round is confirmed.
- Waiters with billing rights can bill a table's served items by cash, QR or both.
- Split a table across several checks when split billing is on.
What you need
Kiosk, waiter, cashier and kitchen screens all need a connection. Keep a mobile hotspot as backup.
| Item | Status | Details |
|---|---|---|
| Internet connection | Required | Every screen needs one. A mobile hotspot works as backup. |
| Phone, tablet or PC | Required | Any device with a recent version of Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari. |
| Printer | Optional | Bills and kitchen tickets open as PDFs sized for 80 mm or 58 mm receipt paper. Print them from the browser's print dialog. |
| Card terminal | Not supported | Payments are recorded as cash or QR. |
| Cash drawer | Not supported | No cash drawer connection. |
| Direct thermal printing (ESC/POS) | Not supported | Printing goes through the browser, not a printer driver. |
Questions
Does the waiter app need a separate device?
No. It runs in the browser on a waiter's phone or a shared tablet. There is nothing to install.
Can a waiter add items that are not on the menu?
Yes. Waiters can add a custom item with a name, an optional price and a kitchen station. The price must be set before the item is billed.
Can waiters take payment?
Waiters with billing rights can bill a table's served items and record cash, QR or both. Items still on their way are not billed until they are served.
Does it work without internet?
No. The waiter app needs a connection to send rounds. If a send fails, the app tells the waiter to check the table before retrying. Keep a mobile hotspot ready as a backup.
