Kitchen display system
Kitchen display system (KDS) for cafés and restaurants
The KalasOS kitchen display shows every order on a screen in the kitchen, split into a column per station. Cooks move each item from pending to preparing to ready, and the floor sees the change live. Any device with a browser can be the display.

Built around stations
- Assign menu items to stations such as Kitchen or Bar; each station gets its own column.
- Items with no station, such as off-menu custom items, wait in an unrouted queue, where the kitchen can send them to a station.
- Orders flagged as priority sort to the top of each column.
Item-level status
- Each dish or drink moves on its own: pending, preparing, ready.
- The waiter and cashier screens update as the kitchen works.
- Cancel an item with a reason; KalasOS records who cancelled it and when.
Kitchen order tickets
- Print a kitchen order ticket per station as a PDF for 80 mm or 58 mm paper.
- Each item prints once: a second click or another device gets nothing new instead of a duplicate ticket.
- Reprints are marked REPRINT.
- Turn on automatic ticket printing per location.
What you need
Kiosk, waiter, cashier and kitchen screens all need a connection. Keep a mobile hotspot as backup.

Questions
What hardware does the kitchen display need?
Any phone, tablet or PC with a recent version of Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari, and an internet connection. Mount a tablet or use a spare laptop; there is nothing to install.
Does the kitchen display work offline?
No. The kitchen display needs a connection. If it drops, the screen keeps the tickets it last loaded but cannot update them until the connection returns. Keep a mobile hotspot ready as a backup.
Can I split the kitchen into stations?
Yes. Create stations such as Kitchen and Bar, assign menu items to them, and the display gives each station its own column. Kitchen tickets print per station too.
Can the kitchen still print paper tickets?
Yes. Kitchen order tickets open as PDFs for 80 mm or 58 mm thermal paper and print from the browser. Each item prints once, and reprints are clearly marked.
Can the kitchen see which orders are urgent?
Yes. Staff can flag an order as priority, and priority orders sort to the top of each station column.
