How it works

How KalasOS works: one ticket from kiosk to kitchen

In KalasOS every order follows one path. A guest at the kiosk or a waiter places it, the cashier confirms it or takes payment, the kitchen display prepares it item by item, and the floor serves and bills it. Every screen reads the same live order, so nothing is copied by hand.

1. Placed

A guest orders at the kiosk, or a waiter adds a round to a table's check. The order is dine-in at a table or takeaway.

2. Confirmed

A new order waits until it is confirmed. Depending on the location's settings, the cashier confirms it, the guest pays first at the cashier, or KalasOS confirms it automatically.

3. Prepared

Each item goes to its kitchen station on the kitchen display and moves from pending to preparing to ready. Kitchen tickets can print per station.

4. Served

The waiter marks items served as they reach the table. The cashier and waiter screens show every change live.

5. Billed

The cashier, or a waiter with billing rights, bills the served items by cash, QR or both. The check closes once nothing on it is left unpaid.

Questions

Do kiosk and waiter orders reach the same kitchen?

Yes. Orders from the kiosk and from waiters land on the same order stream, so the kitchen display, cashier and waiter screens all show them.

Who confirms an order?

You choose per location: the cashier confirms each order, guests pay first at the cashier, or orders confirm automatically.

How does the kitchen know where each item goes?

Each menu item can belong to a station, such as Kitchen or Bar. The kitchen display shows a column per station, and items with no station wait in an unrouted queue.

When does a table's bill close?

A check closes once every live item on it is billed. Items still on their way are not billed, and a cancelled item drops off the bill.
