Food truck POS
Food truck POS on a phone
KalasOS runs a food truck POS on a phone's browser. Take takeaway orders, collect cash or QR payment before cooking, and show tickets on a second phone or tablet in the kitchen. It needs mobile data the whole time; there is no offline mode.

What a food truck needs
- A POS that fits in a pocket.
- Payment before the food is made.
- A kitchen that sees each order without shouting.
How KalasOS handles it
- Counter service mode: every order is its own takeaway check, with no tables.
- Pay-first by cash or QR before an order goes to the kitchen.
- A kitchen display on any second phone or tablet.
- Kitchen tickets can print as PDFs from the browser if you carry a printer.
Which plan fits
Starter is free for one location, which covers a single truck.
What you need
Kiosk, waiter, cashier and kitchen screens all need a connection. Keep a mobile hotspot as backup.
| Item | Status | Details |
|---|---|---|
| Internet connection | Required | Every screen needs one. A mobile hotspot works as backup. |
| Phone, tablet or PC | Required | Any device with a recent version of Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari. |
| Printer | Optional | Bills and kitchen tickets open as PDFs sized for 80 mm or 58 mm receipt paper. Print them from the browser's print dialog. |
| Card terminal | Not supported | Payments are recorded as cash or QR. |
| Cash drawer | Not supported | No cash drawer connection. |
| Direct thermal printing (ESC/POS) | Not supported | Printing goes through the browser, not a printer driver. |
Questions
Does it work without mobile data?
No. KalasOS needs an internet connection on every screen. If it drops, screens keep what they last loaded, but new orders and status changes fail until it returns. Keep a mobile hotspot ready as a backup.
Can I run it on one phone?
Yes. One phone can take orders and show the kitchen display, switching between screens. A second phone or tablet as the kitchen display is easier during a rush.
Which payments can I take?
Cash or QR, recorded in KalasOS. QR means your own static payment QR; KalasOS is not connected to any wallet or bank. Card terminals are not supported.
Do I need a receipt printer?
No. Printing is optional. Bills and kitchen tickets open as PDFs that any printer usable from the browser can print.
